Primary sealants
Secondary sealants
Sealants in IGUs play a critical role in maintaining the unit's integrity and performance by creating an airtight and watertight seal around the perimeter, preventing moisture ingress and gas leakage.
In conventional IGUs, a dual-seal system is employed, where the primary sealant, polyisobutylene (PIB), ensures perfect adhesion and acts as an effective barrier against moisture ingress and gas escape from the IGU. While, the secondary sealant, such as Polysulfide, Silicon or polyurethane, offers structural strength to the IGU.
In addition, FENZI TPS Technology is an advanced thermoplastic system designed for automated insulating glass production. It integrates the spacer, sealant, and desiccant into a single, continuous profile applied directly onto the glass. This eliminates the need for separate components, streamlining the process and ensuring consistent quality. The technology offers excellent thermal insulation, superior moisture and gas barrier properties, and strong adhesion to glass.
These sealants help preserve the durability and performance of the insulating glass unit throughout its extended lifespan, even under challenging environmental conditions.
