Founded last year based on the idea of guaranteeing energy savings by taking advantage of the vast experience of Rolltech in “warm edge” technology, the Chromatech Ultra IG spacer has experienced great commercial success since its launch. This is a truly revolutionary product from all points of view, since it manages to combine the stability and durability of stainless steel with the highly effective insulating properties of polycarbonate. This one of a kind feature is made possible through a special production process which unites and integrates the lower part with the upper part, even though they are built of two very different materials.
The obtainable performance levels in terms of thermal insulation and moisture penetration are highly competitive and can be easily demonstrated. The use of traditional spacers in aluminum door and window fittings results in Psi values of 0.111 W/mK while using Chromatech Ultra the Psi value is 0.051 W/mK, which can also decrease to 0.045 W/mK with the use of triple glazing. Chromatech Ultra therefore offers a comprehensive improvement of the Uw value of 0.1 – 0.2 W/m2K: this means that if a window has a Uw value of = 1.4 W/m2K, with the use of Chromatech Ultra the value becomes Uw = 1.3 – 1.4 W/m2K.
This ability to significantly improve thermal barriers in buildings, increasing their energy performance thanks to an exceptionally low U value coefficient, is the basis for truly remarkable commercial success. To complete these beneficial advantages, it should also be noted that processing and bending is extremely easy: this aspect is significant for the glass processing industry, where it is possible to utilize a new generation spacer without being required to implement sophisticated machinery demanding costly investments.
To respond to growing market needs, Rolltech has recently undergone significant expansion of over 30% at its Chromatech Ultra production facilities and is currently organizing a third production line. In all likelihood, this will be the fastest “warm edge” spacer production line in the world, and is completely automated, handling all of the processes necessary for obtaining the finished product, including the insertion of connectors and packaging of spacers ready for shipping.
All three production lines were programmed for the production of the entire product range in sizes from 10 to 20 millimeters (10, 12, 16 and 20 mm). The new 24 mm size will also soon be readily available, while the smaller 8 mm size will be available by the end of this year. The spacers will also come in new color options: in fact, the new burnished line is now available, which joins the already available Black, Gray Window and Light Gray lines.
Further expansion of production capacity is scheduled for December 2010, when a fourth production line will be inaugurated at the AluPro facilities in Noale.
This response to growing market demands will ensure faster order processing and delivery times.
